Guidance for Visitors

Dress Code

Please avoid extremes of dress.
Recognised golf attire should be worn on the course.
Within the Club House we now permit dress of jacket and tie or smart casual, or recognised golf attire.
Golf shoes should not be worn in the Lounge or Dining Area of the Club House.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones may be used in emergencies. They may not be used in the Club House.

Before Your Visit

Always check to ensure the course is open in times of inclement weather by calling the club and using option 2 for course conditions.

Before Play

Golf shoes should be changed in the Club House changing rooms, not the car park.
Report to the Pro Shop before start of play.
Play should only commence from the first hole unless advised by the Professional.
Observe your allocated start time.
Gents are to play from the yellow tees unless otherwise agreed with the Professional.
Ladies and Juniors have their own tees.
Remember to repair pitch marks, replace divots and rake bunkers; and do not take trolleys onto the tees, greens or green surrounds, or between greens and greenside bunkers.
Players should be aware of others on the course and not hold up play of those behind - ALWAYS ENSURE YOU KEEP UP WITH GROUP IN FRONT.
Club members taking part in club trophies, medals or matches have priority on the course and should be invited through.
Each hole, apart from par 3's, has a 150 distance marker to the side of the fairway measuring to the centre of the green.

Health and Safety Notice

Players should ensure that no one is standing close by or in a position to be hit by a club, golf ball or other article when they make a stroke or practice swing.
Players should not play until the players in front are out of range, especially when playing blind shots or when it is foggy.
Players should always alert greens staff nearby or ahead when they are about to make a stroke that might endanger them.
If a player plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone, they should immediately shout a warning of 'fore'.
If there is danger from lightning, players may suspend play and return to the clubhouse. They must suspend play when the warning siren sounds.
To prevent slipping, players should wear golf shoes that have metal or soft spikes that provide adequate grip.
Players should not lick their golf balls or tees.
Players suffering ill-health or injury may receive first aid treatment from one of the appointed first aid persons listed on the Club House notice board.
As soon as practicable players should report any injuries or accidents to the Secretary.
For further information see the R&A Rules of Golf and Shifnal Golf Club's local rules on Suspension of Play and Playing in Fog.
