Golf Mark

What is Golf Mark

GolfMark is a national accreditation that has been designed to support all golf clubs, however big or small to achieve distinct operating standards in four areas of a club’s business activity:

Recruitment & Retention– supporting your club to attract new members and increase the participation of existing members.

Management & Sustainability– helping to develop your club through practical business planning.

Coaching & Competitions– enhancing coaching and playing opportunities at your club for all golfers.

Safeguarding– ensuring your club has appropriate policies and procedures in place.

Golf clubs are asked to meet a number of ‘essential requirements’ in the four areas which are a set of standards aligned to Sport England’s Clubmark criteria and will be maintained annually by golf clubs through an annual action plan. Golf clubs will also be able to work towards ‘High Performing areas’ which will help to support their future development. By implementing these areas and accessing the appropriate guidance and support, this will help to enable those clubs who wish to become truly high performing.

What is Club Mark?

Clubmark is the universally acknowledged cross sport accreditation scheme for community sports Clubs.
It stands for:

Higher standards of welfare, equity, coaching and management in community sports Clubs.

Making sure the nation’s sports Club infrastructure is safer, stronger and more successful.

It shows that a Club provides the right environment which ensures the welfare of members and encourages everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.
An accredited Club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they’re choosing the right Club for their young people.

Shifnal Golf Club and GolfMark

Shifnal Golf Club was originally awarded GolfMark status in February 2011 when the emphasis was on developing Junior Golf and providing a safe environment in which to learn and enjoy the game. In 2014 the Club’s accreditation was renewed and was recognised as a High Achiever.

Following this, England Golf updated and enhanced GolfMark to better meet golf club requirements in today’s challenging commercial landscape, with an increasing focus on improving business practices and development whilst also supporting the club’s priorities within England Golf’s Strategic Plan.
In 2017 the Club has once again achieved accreditation to this more exacting standard.
